I decided that I should use my own domain name for the Euravelers network to make it a more memorable url than using a Ning ( the company who provide the social network framework) sub domain. I discussed it with my IT consultant, our son, a computing student and he thought that it was a good idea to use the Euravelers domain to build up the brand. I even managed to follow the instructions and set up the redirect to Ning from the Euravlers domain with my web host. Continue

The enormity of creating a travel social network is really hitting home today. I have to try to create as much useful content as I can to make the network appealing to potential members to grab their attention when they first visit the network or they won't bother joining and keeping coming back. I'm feeling quite apprehensive as I prepare to launch the beta of the Euravelers network but as they say "Nothing ventured, nothing gained". I'm hoping that by involving potential users at this early stage that the network will be more geared to members needs than by me assuming that I now what members want. I do believe that there is a place for niche travel social networks but we'll soon see if that is the case. Continue

I'm asking myself if there is going to be any interest in yet another travel social network. I believe the answer is yes because most of the existing travel social networks are very general. I think there is a significant minority of people who want to see more of the real Europe within a modest budget.
